About Print E-mail

My name is Marc Scholten and I am a molecular biologist working for a company that offers services related to clinical drug trials. These trials or studies are mandatory tests on newly developed drugs, conducted with patients who have given their prior informed consent.

I have a long-standing interest - both professional and private - in atherosclerosis and lipid/cholesterol lowering medication. On Prolipid.com, I try to present the current medical knowledge on cholesterol, its harmful effects and how it can be controlled. I try to do so in a neutral, strictly scientific way, giving links to clinical studies or government-sponsored health sites wherever appropriate.

ProLipid.com is a private, non-commercial site (although it contains some advertisement, which is clearly marked as such). I am not paid by or otherwise affiliated to any company manufacturing or selling cholesterol-controlling drugs or supplements. I am neither strictly pro-drugs nor strictly against them when it comes to cholesterol control. I think the question of what is best must be decided individually, in consultation with a physicist or other qualified health counselor.

Disclaimer

Please don't use this information to self-diagnose or self-treat any suspected disease, including elevated cholesterol-levels. Please consult your doctor if you have any health-concerns, or need an individual advice on a health-related topic.

Thanks for your interest
